Time Warner (TWC) Grants AMC (AMCX) Temporary Extension in Carriage Talks

December 31, 2012 2:00 PM EST
Time Warner (NYSE: TWC) and AMC Networks (Nasdaq: AMCX) are both higher on the session amid news that Time Warner temporarily extended a carriage agreement for AMC's We V and IFC channels as the two work toward a new, long-term deal.

The current agreement was set to expire at midnight tonight.

Not included are shows like "Mad Men" and "The Walking Dead" since Time Warner Cable has different agreements in place.

Earlier in December, CEO Glenn Britt said Time Warner was cracking down on content and is willing to drop channels that "cost too much relative to the value of the service."

Shares of Time Warner are up 1.1 percent while AMC is up 0.7 percent Monday.
