Samsung Moves to Add Apple's (AAPL) iPad Mini, iPad 4 in Upcoming Patent Suit

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is ticking higher on hopes of a strong holiday shopping season and, most notably, a much better Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend. At least one company is not feeling the same sentiment.

According to data out Friday, Samsung is petitioning to have Apple's iPad Mini and new iPad 4 included on its list of banned devices for import into the U.S.

The list includes Apple's iPhone 5 model already.

In a statement released late Wednesday, Samsung commented, "Good cause exists to amend Samsung’s contentions because Apple’s new products were not yet available when Samsung submitted its original contentions on June 15, 2012 or its first Motion to supplement its infringement contentions on October 1, 2012."

AllThingsD sees Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal warning Apple against fighting a move by Samsung to add new iPads to the list.

Given how popular the iPads are, this will be one to watch.

Shares of Apple are up about 0.5 percent Friday morning.
