OSI Systems (OSIS) Hit as Legitimacy of Rapiscan Data Called into Question

November 15, 2012 11:00 AM EST
OSI Systems (Nasdaq: OSIS) is getting hit Thursday amid reports of foul play while conducting its scanner tests.

Reports today have U.S. Rep Mike Rogers sending a letter to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) head John Pistole, stating that OSI's body scanning machines might actually be recording graphic images of travelers, compared with prior data that those images were blocked.

OSI Vice President Peter Kant dismissed the claims, saying "at no time" did OSI fake any of the information tied to its Rapiscan machines or tests.

Should OSI have been found guilty of doing so, the company could see fines and loss of contracts, while executives could see some prison time.

Shares of OSI are down over 20 percent in mid-morning trading.
