According to reports this morning, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is one step closer to launching the iPhone 5 in China. China's State Radio Management has approved 2 version of the i5, one that is compatible with China Unicom's network, and the second on is compatible with China Telecom's CDMA network. The approval, the second of three needed to sell the device in China, puts the iPhone 5 one step closer to accessing China consumers, an increasingly important market for the world's most valuable company.
This pace of the approvals puts the iPhone 5 on track for a December launch, in line with CEO Tim Cook's announcement last week.
Despite the news, shares of Apple are under pressure, down 2.4 percent at last check.
