DISH Network (DISH), Cablevision (CVC) Close to Settling $2.4B Voom Lawsuit

October 19, 2012 7:54 AM EDT
DISH Network (Nasdaq: DISH) and Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) are in talks over the now-defunct Voom TV service.

Thursday, a Bloomberg headline had the words "Poss. Settlement" when updating on the matter, meaning the two parties could be in a possible settlement.

Though Cablevision sued DISH for canceling the service before a 15-year contract on Voom's HD programming was up, DISH might end up paying $200 million to $1 billion in a settlement.

Barclays noted that a settlement might include a renewed carriage deal for AMC Networks.. Proceeds from the settlement might flow directly into the Voom entity, currently 20 percent owned by DISH.

DISH ended the session up 4.8 percent Thursday and is currently about 1 percent lower.
