Patriot Coal (NYSE: PCX) has filed for chapter 11 protection under the Bankruptcy Code in the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
On the move are: Alpha Natural Resources, Inc., Arch Coal, Inc. (NYSE: ACI), CONSOL Energy, Inc. (NYSE) CNX), James River Coal Company (Nasdaq: JRCC), Peabody Energy Corporation (NYSE: BTU) and Walter Energy, Inc. (NYSE: WLT). Peabody and CONSOL are higher in late trading, while the others are lower.
