Shares of Sequenom Inc. (Nasdaq: SQNM) are trading down 5% on news a U.S. district court has denied the company's request for a preliminary injunction against Ariosa Diagnostics.

Sequenom is trying to prevent Ariosa from selling prenatal tests that can detect abnormalities in chromosomes. Back in February, SQNM filed a patent infringement suit against Ariosa.

Currently, Sequenom has it's own test it sells, MaterniT21 - which is made to detect certain chromosomal abnormalities, including Down Syndrome.
