Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) has been hashing out some pretty good deals lately, most recently with the likes of Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) and Lions Gate (NYSE: LGF) in the U.K.
But don't think for one second that HBO is going to cave in and dilute its content.
According to a subsection of Time called "Techland," HBO's co-President Eric Kessler has said there is "no chance" of HBO licensing it's content to the globe's number one subscription video service. Kessler made the comments at VideoSchmooze in New York on Thursday.
HBO produces such shows as Game of Thrones, True Blood, and Boardwalk Empire.
Not only does Kessler see providers like Netflix and Hulu as competitors, but he also thinks "cord cutting" -- or going rogue against cable -- is a temporary thing which will disappear once the U.S. economy improves.
HBO considers content as its core revenue source, not licensing.
Netflix and HBO have butted heads in the past, Techland notes, over the series House of Cards and other licensing chatter.
