November 16, 2011 8:06 AM EST
Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) informed employees Tuesday that beginning on the November 16th, five of the company’s magazines would be available on Amazon’s (Nasdaq: AMZN) Kindle Fire: Time, Fortune, Sports Illustrated, People, and Real Simple.

All Things Digital reports negotiations over the deal lasted weeks as Amazon demanded the ability to set prices for these magazines. The company now effectively has the right to offer the publications for free, however management assured Time Warner execs the company was not looking to slash the prices.

When purchasing the magazines, customers will still receive a hard copy along with the ability to view the magazine from their Kindle. Time Warner said it plans to offer more of its magazine titles via the Kindle, iPad, and Android tablet devices in due time.
