H-P (HPQ) Shows Stagnant Growth in Q2 PC Shipments; Apple (AAPL) has Double-Digit Gain

Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) retained the top-spot amongst global PC shippers for the second-quarter...but sequential growth was almost nonexistent.

According to data from IHS (NYSE: IHS) iSuppli Monday, Hewlett-Packard reported moving 15.377 million units in the second-quarter, preliminary data showed. The number was up just 0.02 percent from 15.374 million in the first-quarter of 2011, though Hewlett-Packard grew 2.8 percent from the same period last year.

Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) came in second place, with 11.118 million units shipped, a 6.1 percent sequential increase, and 3.9 percent rise from the same period last year.

Beijing-based Lenovo reported a 25.6 percent sequential growth number to 10.242 million units. The number was up 23 percent from last year.

Rounding out the top five were Acer, at 8.873 million units, and ASUSTEK, with 4.565 million units.

Notably, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) reported 13.6 percent shipment growth to 3.8 million units from 3.3 million in last years second quarter.

Overall, the PC market grew 6 percent sequentially and 3.7 percent from the same period last year, to 85.633 million units.
