AU Optronics (AUO) Takes AT&T (T), Samsung to Court Over LCD Patents

AU Optronics Corp. (NYSE: AUO) is trading slightly lower Tuesday following reports the Hsinchu, Taiwan-based liquid-crystal display maker is suing both Samsung and AT&T (NYSE: T) over patent infringement.
AU Optronics filed a complaint in a Delaware federal court Monday, saying it "has been damaged" from AT&T and Samsung's infringements on its LCD panel patents.
Samsung sued AU Optronics last month in California and Delaware courts, also claiming patent infringement on some of its display panels.
Notably, Samsung received the second most amount of U.S. patents in 2010, behind the patent-leader International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM).
AU Optronics' shares are down 0.2 percent, while AT&T is up 0.7 percent on the session.
