According to reports Monday, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) is once again making a direct move to offer a competing product to a Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) app.
The Redmond, WA-based tech giant is looking to launch a full, Internet-based version of Office 2010 for businesses. Dubbed Office 365, the service will be a paltry $6 per month for businesses to use, and allow access to programs like Office Web Apps and Exchange.
For another $12 per month, companies will gain access to Word and Excel.
The move is aimed at drawing customers away from Google's Apps for Business, however this may be easier said than done. First and foremost, Google is only charging $5 per month, and gives access to programs like Google Docs, a Microsoft Outlook compatible Gmail account, Google Sites storage, and more. Users will save $10 annually if they pay for a year in advance ($50 per user).
There are benefits to Microsoft's offering, too, like videoconferencing. But to gain access to that feature will be $24 per user per month.

Google, in a note on it's Enterprise Blog Monday, made the following arguments:
- Office 365 is for individuals. Apps is for teams;
- Office 365 is built for Microsoft. Apps is built for choice;
- Office 365 is 11 different plans, three editions and two tiers. Apps is $5/month with no commitment; and
- Office 365 is about the desktop. Apps is about the web.
