According to reports from DailyTech Tuesday, Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) is looking to get back into the TV business.
DailyTech, citing a former Apple executive, said the Cupertino, CA-based global media and tech giant will aim its guns at Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX), Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN), and others, by building a display which will house iTunes and Apple TV.
To quote DailyTech's source, Apple plans to "blow Netflix and all those other guys away."
Apple is expected to hammer out a deal with an OEM and rebrand the TV as an Apple unit.
Though rumors over the last couple years suggested Apple could enter the TV segment, Apple TV is a far-cry from this. Still, recent success of the current platform may just push Apple to make the move.
Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) and Sony (NYSE: SNE) recently teamed up for Google TV -- met with a lukewarm reception -- but that doesn't dismiss Apple putting some of its cash into seeding a potentially explosive industry.
