¿Dónde Está Mi Película? Netflix (NFLX) Looking to Make Latin America Next Expansion Target

May 4, 2011 9:14 AM EDT
Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) shares are trading slightly higher Wednesday morning following reports the DVD and video streamer is hammering out new deals as it aims to penetrate into Latin America (LatAm).

Deals are expected to be hashed with the likes of Disney (NYSE: DIS), Lions Gate (NYSE: LGF), Viacom (NYSE: VIA)(NYSE: VIA/b), and CBS Corp. (NYSE: CBS), according to Bloomberg.

LatAm will be Netflix's third market, having opened in Canada last year.

A spokesperson for Netflix noted the company is "always negotiating with virtually all the studios and networks and independent filmmakers," and looking for international expansion is a lot of places.

The move should be a boon for shareholders, as one firm suggested LatAm will have the fastest growth rate in broadband connections through 2015.

Netflix shares are up 0.5 percent ahead of the opening bell.
