Stocks in the Solar sector are moving higher Wednesday morning following reports that China's top energy advisers are suggesting the government double its solar-power target for 2015. The measure comes in response to the devastating disaster at Japan's Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant.
Chinese utilities companies would need to boost there installed solar capacity from 5 GW to 10 GW over the next four years.
Li Junfeng, deputy director general at Beijing's Energy Research Institue at the National Development and Reform Commission said, "Solar energy is the most likely to be enhanced, when considering sources and safety issues among power from wind, hydro and nuclear reactors."
