Metal and Mining Stocks Crushed (XME) (GDX) (BHP) (BTU) (SLW) (POT)

Metal & Mining and other commodities stocks are among the weakness today, following data from China showing a surprise China trade deficit number. The ETF for the group, SPDR S&P Metals & Mining (NYSE: XME), is down 3.5 percent.

China's reported a record trade deficit of $7.3 billion in February. Exports slowed during the Lunar New Year, while imports surged in the country with the rising price of raw materials.

Copper has been a notable downside standout, and is dropping yet again to $4.16 today. Gold is down $23 to $1406 and Silver is down $0.90 to $35.14.
