Photos from President Barack Obama's technology sector meeting in Silicon Valley on Thursday were released by the White House on Friday showing the rumored to be gravely ill Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs enjoying a whos-who dinner with tech titans.
The meeting included Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) CEO Larry Ellison and Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) Chairman Eric Schmidt.
"The president specifically discussed his proposals to invest in research and development and expand incentives for companies to grow and hire, along with his goal of doubling exports over five years to support millions of American jobs," spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement after the meeting.
The photo also showed Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX), Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO) CEO Carol Bartz and Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO) head man John Chambers.
The meeting was a rare public appearance for Jobs, who went on medical leave last month to focus on his health, leaving speculation that Apple's leader could be suffering from complications from a liver transplant he received in 2009, or that his pancreatic cancer has resurfaced.
Earlier this week, the tabloid rumor mill was working overtime on Jobs, claiming to have information that he has weeks to live. Photos from the National Enquirer surfaced claiming to show Jobs being sickly looking, but in the picture from Thursday he looked similar to the past couple of years when he would be on stage unveiling the next big thing from Apple.
Shares of Apple have dipped in recent days as speculation of Jobs' health continue. The stock is down $3.92 to $354.38 in midday market movement on Friday.
