Apple (AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs Has Two Hour Meeting with Obama Despite Health Rumors

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) chief executive officer Steve Jobs, has been rumored to be gravely ill amid tabloid reports of declining health, but he was able to meet with President Barack Obama for two hours on Thursday, along with other titans of technology and Internet companies, to discuss the U.S. economy.

Jobs was accompanied by the Facebook Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ: ORCL) CEO Larry Ellison and current Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) CEO Eric Schmidt.

“The president specifically discussed his proposals to invest in research and development and expand incentives for companies to grow and hire, along with his goal of doubling exports over five years to support millions of American jobs,” spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement after the meeting.

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX) and Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO) CEO John Chambers were also in attendance.

Carney added that the president stressed the importance of investments in education and the support for stratups and small businesses.

Shares of Apple have dipped since rumors over Jobs' health surfaced, and the stock is down 95 cents to $357.35 in premarket trade on Friday.
