Wall Street Hubbub 9/10: Computer Sciences (CSC) Seen As Great LBO Target, China-Biotics (CHBT) Addresses "Rumors", Hartford Financial (HIG) Up on Buyout Chatter

Rumors thrive on Wall Street and today is no exception. Below is a run down of the top talk on Wall Street today:

  • Jefferies upgraded Computer Sciences (NYSE: CSC) today and called the company a perfect LBO candidate. "CSC's cash position and trough valuation have created one of the best LBO opportunities we have seen in several years, in our view," they said.
  • China-Biotics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHBT) is up today after addressing what they called "market rumors" created by short sellers. The company said these rumors in the market place are untrue. Some of those rumors centered around the number of stores the company actually has in China.
  • Hartford Financial Services (NYSE: HIG) is up over 2.5 percent on resurfaced takeover chatter. Options are very active also.
  • Liquidnet is cutting 12 percent of their staff due to low equity trading volumes.
  • Allos Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: ALTH) was mentioned on a biotech takeover target screen, along with a dozen or so others, at Bernstein today. ALTH is the biggest mover on the list.
  • Continued talk that EOG Resources (NYSE: EOG) may sell all or part of the company. Shares are up 3 percent.
  • Unsubstantiated takeover chatter was also heard on: Allegheny Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ATI), Cephalon Inc. (Nasdaq: CEPH), STEC, Inc. (Nasdaq: STEC), and Vivus Inc. (Nasdaq: VVUS).
