Rumors and gossip swirl around Wall Street each day. Below is a list of today's juicy talk:
- EMC's (NYSE: EMC) CEO Joe Tucci is seen as a top candidate to replace HP's (NYSE: HPQ) CEO Mark Hurd, who resigned on Friday after a sexual harassment claim.
- Also on the Mark Hurd matter, Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) CEO Ellison defended Hurd and said the board made a huge blunder by pushing him out. "The H.P. board just made the worst personnel decision since the idiots on the Apple board fired Steve Jobs many years ago" Mr. Ellison wrote.
- The pending acquisition of Genzyme Corp. (Nasdaq: GENZ) took a twist, as CNBC's David Faber reported that the company has yet to respond to Sanofi-Aventis (NYSE: SNY) letter indicating takeover interest.
- STEC, Inc. (Nasdaq: STEC) and Newell Rubbermaid Inc. (NYSE: NWL) have been the subject of unsubstantiated takeover chatter.
