Shares of First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR) are trading sharply higher this morning amid bullish analyst chatter. The stock last traded at $114.10, up more than 4% from yesterday's closing price.

Late last night an analyst at Kaufman reinstated coverage on the stock with a Buy rating and $140 price target. The firm called First Solar "the preeminent stock in the solar space" and recommended investors purchase it as a "core holding."

Elsewhere on the analyst front, we are hearing that Morgan Stanley started coverage on the stock (also last night) with an Overweight rating. Also in the solar sector, the firm initiated coverage on shares of Evergreen Solar (Nasdaq: ESLR) with an Equal Weight rating and Energy Conversion Devices (Nasdaq: ENER) with an Underweight rating.
