The Anti-Terrorism Trade Is "On" - (ICXT, OSIS, ASEI, IDN, more...)

December 31, 2009 8:45 AM EST

It's been a great week for a number of anti-terrorism stock as speculators see them benefiting from beefed-up security in the wake of the attempted Christmas Day terror attack aboard a Northwest flight from Amsterdam to Detroit.

Some of the most popular was to play the theme so-far have been American Science & Engineering Inc. (Nasdaq: ASEI), OSI Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: OSIS), and ICx Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICXT) which are up 10%, 25% and 71%, respectively, this week. L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL), one of the biggest in the group, is up 3% on the week.

As speculators press their bets on the trade they have turned to even more speculative micro-caps that may or may not benefit. Some of those names include:

  • Intellicheck Mobilisa, Inc. (NYSE: IDN) +81%

  • RAE Systems Inc. (AMEX: RAE) +59%

  • L-1 Identity Solutions Inc. (NYSE: ID) +11%

  • Magal Security Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: MAGS) +8%

  • Implant Sciences Corp. (OTCBB: IMSC) +830%
Undoubtedly there will be many more micro-cap speculative stocks that will join this list.

While the anti-terrorism trade is clearly "on," traders need to be ready for a quick reversal should it end - which ultimately will happen.
