Homebuilders Higher On Hope Tax Credit Will Be Extended, Possibly Expanded (XHB)
Homebuilders are higher today on news the Obama administration and Congressional leaders are working on a plan to extend the expiring $8,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers. The program could not only be extended but it could be expanded. Some in the housing industry want the credit pushed to $15,000.
Broadly the sector is up 4.5% today, as represented by the ETF SPDR S&P Homebuilders (NYSE: XHB).
