Shares of Disney (DIS) Rise Following Q2 Results

Shares of Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) have jumped about 2.3% in today's after-hours session following modestly better-than-expected Q2 earnings. The stock most recently traded at $23.72.
Disney reported adjusted-EPS of $0.43, beating the Street's estimate of $0.40 by 3 cents. Sales for the quarter came in slightly below analyst estimates: $8.08 billion versus the consensus of $8.15 billion.
Breaking down the revenue by segment, Disney saw sales in its Media Networks unit fall 2% to $3.62 billion, sales in the Parks and Resorts division fall 12% to $2.41 billion, revenue of $1.435 billion in the Studio Entertainment branch, down 21%, and sales in the Media Networks unit up 2% to $3.62 billion. Also, sales in the Consumer Products segment rose 9% to $496 million and sales in the Interactive Media branch were down by 17% to $129 million.
