In an amended 13D filing on Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMLN), hedge fund Eastbourne Capital disclosed that they plan to have discussions with management and others on actions that may enhance shareholder value, including a possible acquisition of the company by a third party.
Eastbourne Capital disclosed a 12.5% stake in Amylin in August.
Amylin has seen it stock drop 70% this year as the company's BYETTA diabetes drug has been linked to pancreatitis.
Activist investor Carl Icahn, a 7.3% shareholder, has also tried to convince Amylin to explore a sale.
