Solar Stocks Take a Beating Today

Shares of solar companies had an extremely rough day on Wall Street today. As crude oil moves off the $100 level, closing at $95.51 today, forms of alternative energy become less valuable as the need to utilize different forms of alternative energy becomes less. Also, investors may be reacting to comments made by President Bush: he said Americans should be less dependent on oil, and focus more on nuclear.

Solarfun Power Holdings (Nasdaq: SOLF) down 15.5%
Canadian Solar (Nasdaq: CSIQ) down 13.6%
China Sunergy (Nasdaq: CSUN) down 11%
LDK Solar (NYSE: LDK) down 10.7%
DayStar Technologies (Nasdaq: DSTI) down 8.7%
SunPower Corp. (Nasdaq: SPWR) down 6.6%
JA Solar Holdings (Nasdaq: JASO) down 5.3%
First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR) down 3.6%
