April 3, 2012 4:00 PM EDT
Shares of Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) are getting crunched Tuesday as several news items are likely affecting the stock.

Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster earliersuggested RIM shares will traverse lower (i.e. - to zero) as the company could slip into bankruptcy.

In addition, a filing from NXP Semiconductors (Nasdaq: NXPI) showed the company has alleged the BlackBerry maker infringed on six of its patents.

NXP, which filed its complaint in federal court Monday, is seeking cash compensation and a court order to block further use of its inventions. RIM devices listed in the complaint include the BlackBerry Bold, Torch, PlayBook, and Curve.

Patents NXP believes are being infringed upon include computer bus systems, circuit manufacturing, mobile phones with GPS receivers, patterning of layers on wafers, and polishing the surface of wafers.

RIM shares are set to close Tuesday's session off over 9 percent.
