Moments ago, the White House petition that seeks to prevent States from blocking Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) from selling cars directly to customers received enough signatures. 100,000 signatures were needed, and at last count 101,154 signatures were received.
Given that the goal was reached, White House staff must now review the petition, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.
Amid the success of the petition, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted "Woohoo, Tesla direct sales petition passed the 100k threshold! Thanks a lot to everyone that helped!!"
Shares are flat at $117.10 into the close.
