According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS) is unlikely to bid for rival Borders (NYSE: BGP), citing sources close to the situation.
The paper said Barnes & Noble's decision not to bid reflects in part the tight lending markets. In addition, Barnes & Noble may be concerned about the length of some of the leases that Borders has signed.
