Yesterday Sony (NYSE: SNE) announced pricing for its PS4 console. At $399 the PS4 is less expensive than Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) new Xbox One, priced at $499. Sony also revealed some major titles for the PS4 with 140 in the pipeline, 40 of which are exclusive.

Commenting, Goldman Sachs analyst Takashi Watanabe said, "We believe the PS4 will be sufficiently attractive to core users as it will support the core game franchises. However, we are unsure whether these titles will really lead to growth in sales of PS4 as many can also be played on the PS3."

Watanabe also noted a lack of non-game entertainment on the PS4 apart from the Netflix service that is already available on PS3.

"We also did not see any new dimensions in the PS4 game experience that would lead specifically to its popularization and nothing new in the core home entertainment functions," added the analyst.
