Aeropostale, Inc. (ARO) Posts Narrower-than-Expected Q2 Loss of 46c/Share; Offers Q3 Outlok

Aeropostale, Inc. (NYSE: ARO) reported Q2 EPS of ($0.46), $0.13 better than the analyst estimate of ($0.59). Revenue for the quarter came in at $396.2 million versus the consensus estimate of $392.61 million.
Comparable sales, including the e-commerce channel, for the second quarter of fiscal 2014 decreased 13%, compared to a decrease of 15% for the corresponding 13-week period ended August 3, 2013.
Julian R. Geiger, Chief Executive Officer, commented, "I am encouraged that the company was able to achieve higher average unit retails and margins, as well as better expense control during the second quarter, which allowed us to exceed guidance. I feel very fortunate to be joining the organization at this time. I believe that, in principle, we are moving in the right direction."
Aeropostale, Inc. sees Q3 2014 EPS of ($0.48) - ($0.44), versus the consensus of ($0.33).
