Oil Filter Causes Boeing (BA) 787 Flight Diversion, Early Landing (UAL)

Boeing (NYSE: BA) is flat in early trading Wednesday following more adverse news tied to its 787 Dreamliner.

Reports have a United Continental (NYSE: UAL)-owned 787 Dreamliner being diverted to Seattle-Tacoma Int'l Airport due to indication of an oil filter problem. Flight 139 was leaving Denver, headed for Tokyo.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson said the plane touched down shortly after 4pm (it wasn't made clear whether that was Pacific or Eastern time).

The incident comes weeks following Boeing submitting an appropriate solution to a battery issue which caused grounding of 787 aircraft for a number of months. Despite the incident, Boeing had a strong showing at the Paris Air Show over the last week, even landing 102 commitments for its 787-10 Dreamliner, the longer-bodied version of the original.

Neither United nor Boeing has commented on the event.
