Google (GOOG) Adds to U.S. Search Lead in May; Microsoft (MSFT) Gains Share

comScore, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCOR) released its monthly comScore qSearch analysis of the U.S. search marketplace. Google Sites (Nasdaq: GOOG) led the explicit core search market in May with 66.7 percent of search queries conducted.

U.S. Explicit Core Search

Google Sites led the U.S. explicit core search market in May with 66.7 percent market share (up 0.2 percentage points), followed by Microsoft Sites (Nasdaq: MSFT) with 17.4 percent (up 0.1 percentage points) and Yahoo! Sites (Nasdaq: YHOO) with 11.9 percent. Ask Network (Nasdaq: IACI) accounted for 2.7 percent of explicit core searches, followed by AOL, Inc. (NYSE: AOL) with 1.3 percent.

20 billion explicit core searches were conducted in May, with Google Sites ranking first with 13.4 billion. Microsoft Sites ranked second with 3.5 billion searches (up 1 percent), followed by Yahoo! Sites with 2.4 billion, Ask Network with 547 million (up 1 percent) and AOL, Inc. with 266 million.
