Amazon.com (Nasdaq; AMZN) is ticking higher on the session as it has begun selling two of its Kindle tablets in China.
The two devices -- Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Paperwhite -- will add to a recent expansion by Amazon in China and ends a long wait for shareholders as China has become the world's largest market for mobile devices.
It wasn't made immediately clear what price the devices will go for, but many would expect them to be on par with competitors' devices.
Amazon currently has a Chinese-language bookstore, app store, and cloud-storage service.
Despite Amazon being a global powerhouse in retail, the company has largely failed to gain significant market share in China due to competition from names like Alibaba and Beijing Jingdong Century Trading.
Shares of Amazon are up over 1 percent Friday.
