Size Doesn't Matter Here

Samsung finally met its goal of Galaxy S IV (S4) shipments.

According to data out Thursday, Samsung shipped 10 million units of the S4 in less than a month. That compares with 50 days for the S III, about 150 days for the S II, and roughly 210 days for the original Galaxy S smartphone, the company noted.

Sales were largely in-line with internal and analyst projections. Some see Samsung selling 20 million units in the second quarter, moving to 30 million in the third quarter.

By comparison, rival Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) shipped 37.4 million iPhone handsets for its fiscal first-quarter reporting period.

Currently, Samsung's S4 is available in 110 countries, with plans to enter a total of 155 markets globally.

Samsung is also planning to offer the device in different colors, notes the WSJ. Now available in just white and black, Samsung is planning to offer colors like blue, red, brown, and purple. The S III also came in a few other colors aside from white and black.

Shares of Apple are indicated for a lower open Thursday.
