Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) introduced Amazon Coins to Kindle users today, but that might not be the only big news for the e-commerce and storage giant.
CNET said today that Amazon acquired e-ink company Liquavista from mobile device and consumer electronics giant Samsung. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
What that might mean is that Amazon would bring full-color e-ink to a future version of its Kindle reader. This would make books and magazines more appealing, not to mention entice some to do a little more web browsing on their device.
The latest modification for the Kindle was Paperwhite, which provides a crisper, brighter viewing experience for users. Paperwhite displays only black and white text.
Shares of Amazon are up about 0.2 percent Monday.
