Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (Nasdaq: GMCR) was spared a little bit of pain Friday.
With its quarterly conference call, Kraft Foods (Nasdaq: KRFT) announced that it would trim Gevalia retail prices on bagged coffee by about 6 percent, with the change taking effect on May 6th. Not included in the price move were Gevalia Single Serve Cups, Gevalia e-commerce SKUs and Tassimo Gevalia T Discs, Kraft noted.
Given the recent price cuts in the industry, even from Starbucks, Green Mountain will still be able to garner a premium on its K-Cups for now. Shares are up over 2 percent on the session.
