Only Half of BlackBerry (BBRY) 10 Apps May Transfer from Z10 to Q10; But There is Hope...

BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) has been touting the release of its Q10 smartphone, which features a QWERTY keyboard that BlackBerry users have come to know and love.

Unfortunately, there might be one hiccup to completing a successful launch of the device: apps.

ITworld said it recently received a new Q10 handset for review. Moving to transfer apps over from his Z10, the reviewer said that over half the apps, including ones such as Amazon's (Nasdaq: AMZN) Kindle, GoMusic, and eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY), weren't able to work on the new device.

The reviewer did note that developers are working on making current apps more compatible when releases hit (the U.S. launch of the Q10 is expected by the end of this month), though many release time frames still weren't available. Amazon's Kindle app, for instance, will be updated this week, while StubHub should see an end of May update.

BlackBerry is indicated higher in early trading after ending Thursday's session down about 0.6 percent.
