Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) is up over 3 percent Thursday following solid Q1 results issued late Wednesday. But, there may still be a few growth issues.
According to the U.K.'s Guardian, citing Nielsen data, Facebook lost 10 million users in the U.S. over the last 12 months, while growth in the U.K. has also largely been absent. Nielsen said that U.S. users moved from 153 million at March 2012 down to 142 million last March. U.S. users peaked at 158 million last August.
U.K. users were at 26 million last March, down from 28 million hit last October and flat from a year ago.
Do the numbers matter, though? Facebook reported having 1.11 billion Monthly Active Users for the first quarter, up 23 percent from last year.. Monthly Mobile Active Users rose 54 percent to 751 million. During Q412, that number was already at 680 million MMAUs. The Guardian noted that growth was mainly coming from 'poorer' nations, where it would be tough to garner an advertising premium.
