BlackBerry (BBRY) CEO Heins Says Q10 Has Installed Base of 70M+ Users

BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) is up in early trading following bullish comments from CEO Thorsten Heins recently.

Heins said he sees sales of the new Q10 handset in the "tens of millions" range, Bloomberg noted Tuesday. He said that the Q10, which features a QWERTY keyboard, has an "installed base of more than 70 million."

BlackBerry's Q10 will release in the U.K. early in May, moving to the U.S. later next month. All major U.S. carriers are expected to have the device, which will start at $249 on contract. The number is about $50 more than Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone 5 and other high-end smartphones, but Heins & Co. are confident on pricing.

Comments were made during an interview at the Milken Institute conference. For more comments from Jefferies' Peter Misek on the Z10 and Q10 expectations, click here.
