Despite Samsung's new Galaxy S IV smartphone being on the cutting-edge of handheld technology, it generated less buzz than when Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) debuted its iPhone 5 last year.

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster analyzed messages posted on the popular microblog Twitter. Overall, more messages were made about the iPhone 5 following introduction versus Samsung's latest device.

Munster noted that about 2.4 million 'tweets' were made on the day of and next day following the iPhone 5 introduction last September. By comparison, only about 440,000 tweets were observed for the Galaxy S IV. He cited data from Investing Analytics on the report.

Despite a lower number, about 81 percent of Galaxy S IV tweets were positive, versus 7.3 percent for the iPhone 5. Munster didn't comment or hint at extrapolation of the data, but one might wonder whether that 81 percent for the Galaxy might have moved lower as volume met iPhone numbers.
