Ford Motor (F) March Sales Surge 5.7%; Best Since May 2007

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) announced Tuesday that March sales rose 5.7%, versus an expected 4% rise. This company said it was their best sales results since May 2007. The company sold 83,001 Ford brand trucks and 229,335 Ford Brand vehicles. Lincoln sold 6,825 in the month, down 22.5 percent from last year. Overall, the company sold 236,160 vehicles in the month, versus 223,418 last year.
Fusion delivered its best-ever sales month and quarter ever, with March sales passing 30,000 and quarterly sales passing the 80,000 mark for the first time. Escape posts its best-ever sales month with with 28,934 vehicles sold and quarterly sales at 72,983 vehicles. Explorer sales rose 33 percent to 17,509, its best monthly sales since the current model debuted in 2010. The F-Series posts a 16 percent increase the best first quarter sales since 2007, selling 67,513 in March.
"Customers are buying our all-new Fusion and Escape in record numbers, and we are working harder than ever to keep pace with demand for these fuel-efficient vehicles," said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. "Full-size pickup demand continues gaining momentum, outperforming the industry for the third consecutive month."
