Best Buy (BBY) to Take 'Apple-Approach' with Samsung Galaxy S4 Sales (AAPL)

March 28, 2013 10:26 AM EDT
AT&T (NYSE: T) is said to start carrying Samsung's Galaxy S IV smartphone on April 16th for $250 with two-year agreement. Best Buy (NYSE: BBY), meanwhile, will be setting up shops within their stores to feature the new device.

Geek.com reports Thursday that Best Buy will take a similar approach it did in selling Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) products, making a special section with plenty of space for shoppers to try out (and hopefully purchase) the device.

Best Buy locations will remove tow aisles next to the mobile department to install the new Samsung section, Geek.com noted. There will be large signage installed as well as demo stations for many of Samsung's offerings. Training will also be made on how to show off Samsung-specific features.

This focus on Samsung might cause a little concern for other Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android-based device makers. It's also not clear whether Samsung sections will be located near Apple displays., or whether it will keep Apple sections in the future. With the large user-based Apple has, it would be silly for Best Buy to not keep updating employees on changes within the ecosystem, but that differs from dedicating precious real estate for specific sales.

Shares of Best Buy are up 0.3 percent, while Apple is lower on the session.
