Select Comfort Corp (NASDAQ: SCSS) is under heavy pressure Monday after the company said it experienced below-plan sales since Feb. 1, 2013 and will likely miss its internal goals for the first quarter.
The company said they believe the issues are short-term associated with accelerated changes made to our media-buying strategy. Investors are not taking any chances, however. Shares are down 16 percent.
Stocks of other matress makers, including Tempur-Pedic (NYSE: TPX) and Mattress Firm Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: MFRM) are only fractionally lower on the news. Likely in the view that the issue is company-specific.
