Cabela's (CAB) Peers on Watch Amid Strong Q4 Firearm, Ammo Sales (SWHC) (RGR)

Smith & Wesson (Nasdaq: SWHC), Strum Ruger (NYSE: RGR), Olin Corp (NYSE: OLN), and Dick's (NYSE: DKS) shares are on watch Thursday morning following quarterly results from peer Cabela's (NYSE: CAB).
Cabela's reported that fourth-quarter 2012 comparable-store sales rose 12 percent in the quarter. CEO Timmy Milner said that the increase in comps were "aided by a surge in firearms and ammunition." After normalizing firearm and ammo sales, comps would have increased just five percent.
The rise came following the tragic shooting in Newtown, CT, last December. The incident had President Obama calling for a total ban on certain firearm sales. For more color, click here.
Shares of all the above companies are indicated higher in early trading.
