Herbalife (HLF) to Be More Open on Distributor Payments; Will Ackman Budge?

February 6, 2013 3:58 PM EST
Herbalife (NYSE: HLF) is moving higher into the close amid reports that the company will be disclosing data tied to how much U.S. distributors earned last year.

According to Reuters, Herbalife will release gross wages paid to the distributors at various levels in 2012 and what average gross payments were.

Though Herbalife is aiming for broader disclosure, it might not be enough to satisfy Pershing Square's Bill Ackman. Ackman has been public about how he thinks Herbalife is a pyramid scheme and should go to zero. Though the data is a step, Ackman would be looking for multiple years and multiple markets, at minimum, before he's even swayed an inch.

Shares of Herbalife are up modestly in late trading.
