Is Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) going the way of Facebook (Nasdaq: FB)?
Market data points to a possible "yes," at least, as far as index inclusion is concerned. The WSJ points out today that Netflix might be next up for listing on the Nasdaq 100 following Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) going private.
The Nasdaq-100 is made up of the largest non=financial companies listed on the Nasdaq. There is a list of companies that are next in-line for the index, called the Nasdaq Q50. Recent gains in Netflix stock has caused Netflix to boast a market cap of about $9.7 billion, the next-largest non-tech stock on the exchange.
With Dell's deal expected to close within the second-quarter of its fiscal 2014, nothing is set in stone yet. An official from the exchange noted that those outside of the Q50 could also be eligible.
Netflix down 0.3 percent Tuesday.
