Tesla (TSLA) May Be in Tough Spot Following Recent Boeing (BA) Headlines

Is Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA) stock about to explode...or have a melt down?

No question, if you've been scouring the Wall Street Journal, Fox News, Bloomberg, or any of the other well-known news sources, you've heard about Boeing (NYSE: BA) and it's issues with flammable batteries.

Those batteries a lithium-ion batteries....the same kind used in Tesla's Model S!

Now, where not chemists and aren't sure if a lithium-ion battery is a lithium-ion battery. Maybe one has a different "ratio" of components and/or solutions. The Model S batteries have nickel-cobalt-aluminum cathodes, maybe not the same setup on Boeing's version. And Model S batteries will certainly not be subject to the same stresses the Boeing ones go through.

No reports have surfaced about any flaming batteries in Tesla cars, but many potential buyers could be a little more nervous if the right information isn't put forth from the company to deal with the issue.

Shares of Tesla are now up 0.5 percent today.
