Boeing (BA) 787 Dreamliner 'Growth' Continues; More Incidents Reported in Japan

When do "growing pains" stop and overall errors begin? For Boeing (NYSE: BA), that separation is getting rather cloudy.

After three incidents for its 787 Dreamliner earlier in the week, Boeing was hit with a few more Friday. An All Nippon Airways flight returned to Tokyo following reports of a cracked cockpit window while another jet was reported to have sprung an oil leak.

The cracked windscreen has ANA canceling a flight from Matsuyama in western Japan to Tokyo, while the oil leak was reported on a 787 at Miyazaki airport. Earlier this week, a 787 caught fire while another had a fuel leak at Logan International in Boston. The final 787 incident occurred when an ANA crew reported that an error message appeared relating to the aircraft's braking system.

This isn't the first time that issues have hit the 787. ANA and Air India have reported cracked windows in the past.

Boeing shares have been pressured following the headlines, dropping just under a point from last Friday though yesterday's close. the venerable aircraft manufacturer held a conference call this week to address the issues and reaffirm confidence in the 787 moving forward.

Shares are indicated for a lower open Friday.
