Monster (MNST) Energy Drink Sales Slow in Nov., But So Did Everyone Else's - Analyst

Monster Beverage (Nasdaq: MNST) is on the low-side Friday amid comments from SunTrust Robinson Humphrey about sales for November.

Citing Neilsen data, Monster's energy drink sales rose 17.1 percent for the four-weeks ended November 24th. While the growth is solid, its down from 23.4 percent in October.

The slowdown wasn't Monster-specific; the entire energy segment slowed 2 points to 14.1 percent.

Monster competitor Red Bull saw a slight uptick to 14.2 percent, versus 12.5 percent in October, SunTrust notes.

Analyst William Chappell and crew rate Monster at Buy. He thinks that most of the headline risk is priced in and comps will ease into 2013.

Shares of Monster are down 2.2 percent.
